CFL Lines – Calgary Stampeders Looking for Playoff Success in 2014

CFL Lines:  The Calgary Stampeders had a very good regular season a year ago as they went 14-4 but it meant nothing as they were blown out by the eventual champions, the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the playoffs.  The Calgary Stampeders should once again have a very good team in 2014 but unless they win in the playoffs, the season will be considered a disappointment.  Here is look at the 2014 Calgary Stampeders including their schedule.

Quarterback Questions

Everything is in place for the Calgary Stampeders to be successful in 2014 except at the quarterback position.  Kevin Glenn is now in British Columbia so it will be up to either Drew Tate or Bo Levi Mitchell to lead the team to success this season.  Tate had the starting spot last year until he got hurt and he has more experience but Mitchell has looked good in limited action. There is a good chance that both quarterbacks will play because Tate is an injury waiting to happen.  Whoever is at quarterback will be helped by former Most Outstanding Player Jon Cornish who led the league in touchdowns and rushing yards last season.

Team Notes

The Calgary Stamepders finished first last season in points scored, net offense, rushing yards, fewest quarterback sacks allowed; best second to first conversion rate; most quarterback sacks on defense; fewest giveaways and they tied for the best takeaway/giveaway ratio at +19.  And the team has arguably the best punter/kicker combination in the league in Rob Maver and Rene Parades.   Everything is in place for a really good 2014 season for the Calgary Stamepders if someone can step up at the quarterback position.
