CFL Predictions – Winnipeg Blue Bombers at British Columbia Lions on Friday Night

CFL Betting:  The British Columbia Lions host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night.  The Lions are 2-2 on the season while the Blue Bombers are 3-1 but it will be the Lions who are favored at home.  British Columbia started the season slowly as they dropped their first two games but they have looked very impressive in their last two, winning by a combined margin of 67-18.  Let’s look at Friday’s contest and CFL predictions.

Blue Bombers Winning Streak Ends

Winnipeg started the season 3-0 but the team got no offense at all last week and lost 26-3 at home to Edmonton.  Head coach Mike O’Shea said that the defense simply got worn down. “We ran out of gas,” O’Shea said. “They worked pretty hard and held them to a lot of field goals.”

The defense was not thrilled with their effort even though they only allowed one touchdown. “It really wasn’t tiring. We’ve got to do our job as a D and hold up our part of the deal. If we would’ve prevented them from scoring, they wouldn’t have won,” said Blue Bombers linebacker Ejiro Kuale.

The defense was not the only problem though as the Winnipeg offense had only 11 first downs and 209 total yards of net offense.

The offensive line was weak and they allowed five sacks and very little went right for the Blue Bombers. “We couldn’t sustain any drives,” said Blue Bombers quarterback Drew Willy, “We had the confidence that we could come back but nothing really ever got going. It would have been nice to get some points on the board for our defense.”

Lions Starting to Roll

The Lions looked really poor in their first two games but now Kevin Glenn and the offense are rolling and the defense is playing well. Glenn threw for 301 yards in the win over Montreal. “It’s a marathon, and you want to gradually get better every week,” Glenn said, “Last week we weren’t perfect and naturally this week we weren’t perfect, but we made plays when they were called upon. We want to make sure we’re growing as a team till the end of the year when you’re playing your best football.”

Game Trends

The Blue Bombers are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 against the West. The Lions are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 home games. The Under is 14-4 in the last 18 meetings in this series.

CFL Predictions

We’ll look for the Lions to stay hot and win this one at home on Friday.
