MLB Picks: Low Scoring Game Expected on Thursday as the Houston Astros visit the New York Yankees on MLB Network

MLB Betting:  It should be a low-scoring game on Thursday as the Houston Astros visit the New York Yankees in a game that can be seen on MLB Network.  Both teams are struggling to score runs and the pitching matchup should be a good one as the Astros are expected to send Dallas Keuchel while the Yankees go with Brandon McCarthy.  Here is a look at the matchup and MLB picks.

Astros Pitching

The pitching for the Astros for the most part has not been very good this season but Dallas Keuchel has been one of the exceptions to the poor pitching.  He actually has a winning record for a team that overall is very poor.  Keuchel is 10-8 on the season with a 3.11 ERA.  He picked up yet another road win last time out as he held the Boston Red Sox to just three earned runs in seven innings.

Yankees Pitching

The Yankees have put together a rotation with a bunch of fill-in players as many of their top pitchers are hurt.  One of those players is Brandon McCarthy who has pitched well since coming over from Arizona.  He has a 4.24 ERA on the season but he has been much better with the Yankees than he was with the Diamondbacks.  He has suffered losses in his last two starts although neither outing was that bad.  He didn’t get any run support as he lost to the Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays as the Yankees were shutout 3-0 and 5-0.

Series Notes

Before this series began it was the Yankees who had taken seven of the last 10 with the last six meetings going under. The Yankees had won seven of the last nine at home but strangely enough, the games in New York have been higher scoring with the last five going over.  The teams played a three-game set in New York last season with the Yankees winning two of three with all three games going over.

MLB Picks

We’ll look for a pitcher’s duel between Keuchel and McCarthy and for the game to go under the total.
