MLB Predictions: Oakland Athletics Favored on Wednesday vs. New York Mets on MLB Network

MLB Betting:  MLB Network will be televising the matinee on Wednesday between the New York Mets and Oakland Athletics.  It could end up as a pitcher’s duel if the rotation stays on schedule with Zack Wheeler going against Jeff Samardzija.  The A’s will be the favorite in this contest because they are the superior team and because they are at home but it is worth noting that the Mets have won seven of the last 10 in this series.  Here is a look at the matchup and MLB predictions.

Two-Game Series

There are not many series in baseball that are just two games but that is the case with this series between the Mets and A’s. The teams are playing on Tuesday and Wednesday in Oakland.  This is not a good spot for the Mets as they just completed a homestand on Monday. Now they have to travel across the country and play the best team in the American League. It is easy to make a case that they get swept in the two game series.

A’s Rolling at Home

The A’s are battling with the Angels for the best record in the league and for the top spot in the AL West. They are also right with the Angels for the best home record in the league.  Oakland does virtually everything well as they are 1st in the league in runs per game and 4th in team ERA.  It is hard to make a case for going against this team at home.

Series Notes

Before Tuesday’s game it was the Mets who had won 7 of the last 10 in the series with two of the last three going over. The Mets won two of three back in June at home against the A’s.  The teams don’t play that often so it is surprising to see them playing two series this season. Before Tuesday’s game they had not met in Oakland since 2005 when the A’s won two of three.

MLB Predictions

We’ll look for the A’s to win a low scoring game on Wednesday afternoon.
