College Basketball Picks: Top 25 teams meet on Sunday as the 7th-ranked Texas Longhorns visit the 24th-ranked Connecticut Huskies in a game that can be seen on ESPN 2. The Longhorns come into the game unbeaten at 5-0 on the season while the Huskies are 3-1. Here is a look at the matchup and college basketball picks.

Texas Longhorns 5-0 SU, 4-0 ATS

The Longhorns have rolled over all five of their opponents this season and they have covered all of their lined games. Their game against St. Francis was not lined so they are a perfect 4-0 ATS. The team is averaging 78 points per game while allowing 52 points per game so they are winning by 26 points per contest. The only concern for this team is that point guard Isaiah Taylor is out with a broken wrist. Taylor doesn’t need surgery but he will definitely be out for a while. He averaged 15 points in three games this season. It will be up to Javan Felix to fill in until Taylor comes back. Felix averaged nine points per game last season as the starter.

Connecticut Huskies 3-1 SU, 1-2 ATS

The Huskies have three wins in four games but they have covered the college basketball betting point spread just once. They have not looked that good in any of their games. In their game against Bryant that did not have a line they won by just 13 points. The team is scoring just 68 points per game and allowing 63 points per contest.

Those numbers are simply not good enough for this team to compete for the title in the AAC this season. The Huskies do have one good scorer in guard Ryan Boatwright but there are real questions as to whether they have anything behind him. The days of the Huskies being a national power could be over. They could easily be listed as a home underdog in college basketball odds for this game on Sunday.

Game Notes

These teams have not met since 2011 when it was the Huskies winning 82-81. They have not met at Connecticut since 2010 when it was the Huskies winning 88-74. The last three meetings in this series have all gone over the NCAA basketball betting total.

College Basketball Picks

There is no reason to think that the Huskies will be able to score a lot of points against the tough Longhorns defense so this should be a low scoring game that goes under the college basketball betting total.
