World Cup Betting Odds – Uruguay and England Look to Bounce Back on Thursday on ESPN

World Cup Betting Odds:  The pressure is on for Uruguay and England this Thursday as both teams are coming off opening losses in Group D play.  Uruguay was shocked by Costa Rica, losing 3-1 while England was beaten 2-1 by Italy.  The winner of this match will still have a chance to reach the round of 16 while the loser will virtually be done.  Let’s look at the match and World Cup predictions.

England +130, Uruguay +210, Draw +230, total 2.5 under

The money line has England at -140 and Uruguay at +115.

Will Suarez Play?

The biggest question that will be answered just before this game starts on Thursday is the status of Uruguay striker Luis Suarez. He did not play in the opener against Costa Rica and the team looked completely lost without him. Their only goal was scored by Edinson Cavani on a penalty kick.  The team really needs Suarez because they will already be without Maxi Pereira who got a red card in the loss to Costa Rica. Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez said his team played as poorly as they have a in a long time. “Football means that sometimes you have to lose.” Tabarez said, “You can’t lose heart; you just have to improve. We made mistakes today that we haven’t made for a long time.”

England Runs Out of Gas

England had a chance to get something out of its opening match against Italy but it was obvious the team just wasn’t ready to play a full 90 minutes in Roy Hodgson’s new attacking style of soccer. The team simply ran out of energy in the last 20 minutes.  Wayne Rooney had some good early chances but he was done late in the game.  Now England has to find a way to recover and defeat Suarez or their chances of reach the last 16 will be slim.

World Cup Predictions

The line here is a bit surprising as we think it should be closer to a pick ’em. The value is all on Uruguay so we will take them at +210 in World Cup betting odds.
