2017 Valero Texas Open DFS Lineup

The PGA Tour is in San Antonio, Texas this week for the Valero Texas Open. It has been a couple of weeks since Sergio Garcia’s Masters victory but he has left a lasting impression with his first major victory. This week the focus shifts to an event that isn’t nearly as loaded in terms of the overall talent in the field. That could be a good thing when it comes to DraftKings tournaments as we can narrow our focus in on the best available talent with a balanced approach. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA daily fantasy leagues.

Adam Hadwin, $9,100

Hadwin is in the midst of a breakout season that has included his first PGA Tour win and a pair of top-10 finishes at the CareerBuilder Challenge and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Hadwin could be in line for another strong performance this weekend at a course that really fits his skill set. Hadwin ranks third on the PGA Tour in Scrambling, which should be important again this week considering the greens at this course are so small. His accuracy and putting should also help as Hadwin is one of the better values on the board among the top contenders for the outright win this week.

Billy Horschel, $8,900

Horschel missed the cut at the RBC Heritage last week. However, we see that as a good thing in terms of his potential for this week’s event. After all, Horschel finished 54th in the RBC Heritage last year and then placed fourth at the Valero Texas Open the following week. He also placed third at this event back in 2013 so he should be confident heading in to this week. After last week’s disappointing finish, Horschel should be motivated to contend for the win at the Valero Texas Open.

Luke Donald, $8,700

Donald enters this tournament in excellent form following a runner-up finish at the RBC Heritage last week. That should help provide some confidence heading in to this week’s Valero Texas Open. Donald placed 13th at this event a year ago so there is reason to believe he can contend for the outright win this weekend. At just $8.7K, Donald is another strong value pick that fits our lineup for this tournament.

Chris Kirk, $8,000

Kirk has missed the cut in three of his last four starts, which is why he is available at just $8K in DraftKings tournaments. That makes him a strong value pick for this week at a tournament where he has had some success in the past. Kirk has finished 13th and eighth at this tournament over the last two seasons and he is still a top-100 player. At just $8K, Kirk might be one of the better values on the board in DraftKings tournaments this week.

J.J. Spaun, $7,800

Spaun has had a solid rookie season and we are banking on it continuing this week in San Antonio. Spaun has finished in the top-10 in three of his 16 events and he is coming off a sixth-place finish at the RBC Heritage last week. At under $8K, Spaun is a quality sleeper pick in FraftKings competitions.

Daniel Summerhays, $7,000

Summerhays has struggled with consistency throughout this season but he made the cut at the Masters and the RBC Heritage so there is reason to believe he could turn his season around. It should help that Summerhays is extremely comfortable at this course, where he has finished 13th or better in each of the last three years. Those results include a runner-up finish and fourth-place finish at past editions of the Valero Texas Open. Considering those results, Summerhays should be an excellent value pick at just $7K in DraftKings tournaments.
