2018 American Ninja Warrior Odds and Recap — The Wall!

American Ninja Warrior

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard made a guest appearance on American Ninja Warrior for Jurassic World night.

Flip Rodriguez, Grant McCartney, Zhanique Lovett, Kevin Bull, Nick Hanson, and Natalie Duran are just some of the contestants who are competing this week for a chance to make it to the finals.

Big 12, Heisman Trophy, College Football

Here are some highlights of this week’s competition. We’ll have odds for you as we get closer to the finals.

As I sit here eating rainbow cookies, this edition’s competitors are going through obstacles of floating stairs, jumper cables, spinning bridge, skyhooks, doorknob drop, and warped wall.

Zhanique Lovett is up first and this mom competed in the 2017 American Ninja Warrior competition.  She blew through the first few obstacles. She was killing it but the doorknob drop did her in.

Dennis Ruelas made a dramatic entrance, but he fell on the first steps!

We see a montage of American Ninja Warrior competitors who have dropped, especially on the doorknob drop. Nobody’s passed that yet. Ruben Arellano comes in dressed like the karate kid and his grandma Sara Groom is in the audience — awwww. He makes it through to the jumper cables and we’ll see if he can jump and he can. He’s long and lanky and that seems to work well for contestants, but will the spinning bridge do him in? Close, but nope. He’s past the skyhooks and now the dreaded doorknob drop! Oh no, another victim! Will anyone survive the doorknob drop? Will anyone climb the big wall? Time will tell.

Thomas Kofron, who fought a fire on his own home, is up next. He passes the spinning bridge and now it’s time for the skyhooks. Now it’s time for the doorknob drop. Will he get past it? He is past the first drop! He got through the second drop and now he’s on the wall and does it! He’s through to the next round!

Will Kevin Bull be the first up the mega wall? He’s up next. Boy, he is super fast and in under 30 seconds he’s on the skyhooks! He’s made it through the first doorknob drop in less than a minute and a half. Bull dropped on the last doorknob!

Sean Bryan gets all the way to the doorknob drop in less than 2-1/2 minutes. He hangs on to the last doorknob and makes the dismount. He’s trying the mega wall — he gets one shot. He misses it, but he makes the smaller wall with ease and finishes at 3:56.

Tiana “Sweet T” Webberley is making her fourth appearance, but she hasn’t finished yet. I’m rooting for her especially after watching her carry her mother up the stairs on her training. She makes it all the way to the doorknob drop. Here we go ….. oh damn! she made it all the way to — once again —  the final step of the fifth obstacle before dropping!

Grant McCartney comes in at 10 pounds lighter than last year’s American Ninja Warrior competition and he’s moving well through the skyhooks. He gets to the first doorknob drop and passes it and he’s on the second drop and …. he makes it! Oh no, his foot barely hits the water and that counts as a miss even though he hit the mat too? That sucks.

Nicholas Coolridge also makes it through and became the night’s third finisher.

Cody Johnston barrels through to the skyhooks after an almost-miss on the spinning bridge. But the 5’4″ athlete can’t hold on with the doorknobs.

Who else made it through?

Josh Levin
Nick Hanson — who made the 18-foot wall for $10,000!
Rambo — and he’s the fastest time in of the night at 2:26!
Spencer Clapp
David Campbell — oldest finisher of the night!
Brian Krench

Adam Rayl — also climbs the mega wall for $10,000!

Great American Ninja Warrior episode. See you next week.
