2018 Champions Tour Rapiscan Systems Classic Betting Preview

Champions Tour

The Champions Tour will make its way to Saucier, Mississippi and the Fallen Oak Golf Club for this year’s Rapiscan Systems Classic. Miguel Angel Jimenez will be back to defend his title after winning each of the last two editions of this tournament. However, Jimenez won’t be the sports betting favorite to win this event, which is a title that belongs to Steve Stricker heading in to this year’s Rapiscan Systems Classic. Jerry Kelly, Fred Couples and Vijay Singh are all expected to be in the mix as well at this week’s Champions event. Here is a look at some of the best bets for this week’s Rapiscan Systems Classic. Favorites

Steve Stricker +250

Stricker is the sports betting favorite to win this week for a reason and the odds illustrate just what the sportsbooks think he is capable of accomplishing this week. After placing second in the Chubb Classic, Stricker won the Tucson Conquistadores Classic and then registered another top-12 finish in the Valspar Championship. Stricker has been consistent enough to make him a reliable finish this week.

Miguel Angel Jimenez +900

Jimenez might not be the most consistent golfer overall but he is the two-time defending champion at this tournament so it’s impossible to overlook him this week as he attempts to win here for the third year in a row. Jimenez is a horse for the course with the overall talent to contend again this week so he won’t be overlooked among the favorites to win outright once again.

Jerry Kelly +900

Kelly was forced to withdraw from the Toshiba Classic but he finished second in the Tucson Conquistadores Classic and he is very capable of putting together a strong performance in the Rapiscan Systems Classic. He hasn’t been as consistent as Stricker and he hasn’t had the same success at this tournament as Jimenez but Kelly is definitely on the map this week.

Next In Line

Fred Couples +1000

Couples hasn’t won since last June but he has the tools to contend in the Rapiscan Systems Classic. Couples has been fairly consistent and he is more than capable of putting himself in the mix again in Mississippi. He might not be the most popular pick but Couples is definitely capable of contending once again in this week’s Champions event.

Vijay Singh +1000

Singh is a streaky golfer but he is coming off the first individual win of his PGA Tour Champions career and it will be very interesting to see if he can build off that performance with another strong start this week. Singh is definitely capable and at +1000 odds to win outright there will definitely be some money on him this week.

Bernhard Langer +1000

Langer hasn’t shown the consistency that we are used to seeing out of him over the years, including finishing outside of the top-50 in each of his last two starts at the Tucson Conquistadores Classic and the Toshiba Classic. However, Langer has the talent to bounce back in any given week so we aren’t going to overlook him this week. At +1000 odds, Langer is a decent value pick to win the Rapiscan Systems Classic.

Sleepers

Rocco Mediate +5000

Mediate might not be among the sports betting favorites to win outright but he has finished in the top 10 in every PGA Champions event this season and yet he is still listed at +5000 odds to win. Mediate has the talent to surprise and at such long odds he could be worth taking a chance on as a sleeper pick to finally break through and win this event.

Paul Broadhurst +6600

Broadhurst is another sneaky sleeper option for this week’s tournament at excellent odds. Broadhurst is coming off a strong performance at the Toshiba Classic in which he finished T-22nd and there is definitely room for him to improve on that result this week. At +6600 odds to win outright, Broadhurst might be worth taking a shot on to win the Rapiscan Systems Classic outright this week.
