2018 NCAA Tournament: MOP Betting Odds List Brunson, Bagley As Favorites

Marvin Bagley

The NCAA Tournament gets underway on Tuesday with the First Four followed up by the Round of 64 on Thursday and Friday. Before the action tips off, BetDSI Sportsbook has posted betting lines on all sorts of tournament props tied to the performances related to everything from seeds to teams to players.

One of the most popular player prop to bet on is the Most Outstanding Player prop, focusing on the player who will shine the most in the tournament. It’s no surprise that the list of MOP favorites is headlined by a number of familiar names.

Leading the way is Villanova’s Jaylen Brunson, who powered Villanova to the Big East championship this past weekend. The Wildcats are a No. 1 seed that’s expected to make a deep run. Brunson’s main competition is expected to be Duke’s Marvin Bagley and Michigan State’s Miles Bridges. Those are the only other players inside of 10/1.

Bagley, who is one of Duke’s key cogs, averaged a double-double this season in the ACC, which is quite impressive. He scored 21.1 points per game while contributing 11.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 block per game. He’s expected to be a lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and with a strong showing in the Tournament, could make it as high as the top three.

Bridges is also expected to be a top selection in the 2018 NBA Draft, albeit not as high as Bagley. Bridges is projected in the Top 15 right now but he could climb if Michigan State makes a deep run.

Duke has the most players at the top of the list with three inside of 20/1 (Bagley, Grayson Allen and Wendell Carter Jr.). It’s fairly clear that they have a ton of talent. Villanova has two players in that same range.

DeAndre Ayton is going to be a popular bet at 20/1 as he’s projected to be the surefire No. 1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The question is can he carry Arizona deep enough into the Tournament to earn the MOP award? Given what head coach Sean Miller has gone through this season, the story of Ayton, Miller and Arizona will be one of the most intriguing storylines in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
