205 Live Recap: Tozawa Prevails in Intense Street Fight

Tonight on 205 Live, we have a huge match that could end a feud that has been going on for three months. The main event for tonight’s episode includes The Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa battling it out in 205 Live’s first street fight ever. That’s not all, either. Former Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann is in action against Ariya Daivari and we finally get the long-awaited return of Cedric Alexander.

Rich Swann vs. Ariya Daivari
Last week, Rich Swann was backstage when he received a mysterious package. Swann knew better, thinking that the package would be a joke played on him by Noam Dar and Alicia Fox. Swann directed the delivery man towards Ariya Daivari. Daivari was waiting for expensive sunglasses to come in the mail, so he opened the box with anticipation. Instead of sunglasses, there was a lot of white powder in the box that “poofed” all over his $1,500 shirt. Naturally, this leads to a match.

Daivari surprisingly kicks out of Swann’s spinning back kick, but it was just delaying the inevitable. About 30 seconds later, Swann hits his signature corkscrew 450 Splash to pick up the victory. Winner: Rich Swann

While Swann celebrates his win, Noam Dar attacks him from behind. Dar pushes Swann off of the turnbuckle and Swann crashes face first to the mat at ringside. Dar and Alicia Fox gloat in the ring while the segment ends.

Interview Segment
Before Neville defends his Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries in a submission match at Extreme Rules, Corey Graves hosts an interview segment with both men at the same time. Both Neville and Aries are doing this via satellite, so the only battling here will be through words.

Cedric Alexander vs. Johnny Boon
It has been over three months since Cedric Alexander has competed on 205 Live. Alexander was seemingly on his way to the Cruiserweight Championship title scene when he suffered a knee injury. After rehabbing from his injury, he is here to show the WWE Universe that he has not missed a step. While Alexander was away, Rich Swann interfered in Noam Dar and Alicia Fox’s relationship on his behalf, so it’ll be interesting to see how that develops.

If you don’t know who Johnny Boon is, don’t worry. He is just here to make Cedric Alexander look good.

After not long at all, Alexander nails Boon with the Lumbar Check to score a dominant win. Winner: Cedric Alexander

Video Package
Drew Gulak had been campaigning for less high flying and showmanship in the Cruiserweight Division, and this week, he is here with a PSA of sorts. He says that there is no point to wrestle that way outside of getting some applause, and he hopes the WWE Universe joins him in condemning the high-risk moves that Cruiserweights are known for.

The Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa – Street Fight
While it seemed like last week was the end of the feud between The Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa, it is really this week that settles the score. For months, Kendrick and Tozawa “taught” each other lessons and it led to a match last week on 205 Live. Tozawa won the match with a roll-up, but Kendrick attacked him right after the match ended. For the icing on the cake, Kendrick attacked Tozawa from behind in an online exclusive video behind the scenes of Monday Night Raw.

Kendrick and Tozawa battle all over the place, but when Tozawa slams Kendrick into the steps, he gains control for the rest of the match. With a table set up next to the steel steps, Akira Tozawa lays Brian Kendrick down onto it. He then climbs to the top of the ring post (not the turnbuckle) to hit a senton with a tremendous amount of hang time to it. Tozawa rolls a very limp Kendrick back into the ring and flops on him to cover him for the pinfall victory. According to Corey Graves and Brian Kendrick, their rivalry is finally over. Winner: Akira Tozawa
