4 Good Picks For The Deutsche Bank Championship This Weekend

At first it seemed as though The Barclays was bound to belong to Rory McIlroy and his outstanding run. Then it was Jason Day and Jim Furyk battling atop the leaderboard heading in to the final round. Finally, Hunter Mahan came out of nowhere to win The Barclays and set the tone for unpredictability moving forward. The PGA is headed for Massachusetts this week for the Deutsche Bank Championship. Here are the fourth best bets to win the tournament.

Rory McIlroy +400

McIroy’s run at history ended at The Barclays where he failed to pick up a fourth-straight tournament win but he opens up as the heavy favorite at the Deutsche Bank Championship for a reason. Nobody has been better or more consistent than McIlroy over the past month and he heads in to this event looking to close the gap now trailing Mahan for top spot in the FedEx Cup. With a number of great golfers like Day, Sergio Garcia, and Phil Mickelson all rumored to be skipping this event it makes even more sense to roll with the best golfer on the tour to bounce back with a much better performance than we saw from him last week.

Henrik Stenson +1600

Stenson shot a 22-under par at TPC of Boston a year ago to tie the course record set by Vijay Singh and Charley Hoffman and win the Deutsche Bank Championship so it’s no surprise that he is among the favorites to win it again this year. He looked awful at times last week at The Barclays but all of that is out the window mentally heading in to an event that Stenson should be confident for after dominating in 2013. Factor in that he is third on the tour in driving and 10th in accuracy percentage on those drives and you can see why Stenson is an excellent pick to challenge McIlroy for top spot this weekend.

Justin Rose +1700

Another golfer that should be right there in the mix with McIlroy and Stenson is Rose, who has already logged seven top-10 finishes and has shot under par n five-straight events heading in to this tournament. That consistency makes Rose a threat to challenge for a win every weekend and he could surprise a lot of people at this tournament if he plays well early on and gets that confidence under his belt.

Keegan Bradley +4000

Bradley has struggled as of late as he failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship and then finished T-53 at The Barclays last week but he has had success at this tournament before and could be a dark horse sleeper pick to steal a win this weekend. Bradley has finished in the top-20 in each of his last two appearances at the Deutsche Bank Championship and while he doesn’t deserve to be the favorite he might be worth a look as a quality sleeper bet at such long odds.
