Strikers That Would Help Borussia Dortmund Right Away

Bacca is a star on the rise...if only Dortmund can find a way to get him in their uniform.

It has been a trying season for Borussia Dortmund as well as its fans. With Jurgen Klopp out and Thomas Tuchel in, there will have to be some substantial adjustments this offseason. Tuchel will surely be in position to make at least a couple of changes to the roster and considering the glaring hole the club has up front next to Marco Reus, the addition of a striker that can consistently perform at a high level should be at or near the top of the list of things that Borussia Dortmund needs the most. Here is a look at five strikers that would really help Borussia Dortmund looking forward to next season.

Carlos Bacca

The Sevilla striker is playing at an outstanding level in La Liga this season and after hitting the 20-goal mark, the 28 year old has been talked about a lot in transfer rumors. On the season, his 20 goals are the fifth-most in the Spanish Primera. That’s incredible to think the company he’s keeping as only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Antoine Grizmann and Neymar have more tallies than him. Bacca is the type of pure goal scorer that understands how to handle the ball under pressure in close and concentrates on finishing rather than being too pretty. Bacca is an excellent option for Dotmund if they can find a way to get their hands on him. It would take some convincing as Sevilla FC has relied upon his services to a top-five place in the La Liga table.

Mauro Icardi

Icardi’s name has been linked to a number of teams and while he hasn’t been moved yet, the reports have been persistent that Inter Milan will attempt to move him. The Argentinian forward has a high price tag on him because of his exceptional talent and the lack of high-level talents reportedly available in return, so it could be tough for Dortmund to land him. But if they can find a way to acquire Icardi, it would be a major coup.

Kevin Volland

Tuchel wouldn’t have to look far to find Volland as an excellent fit for his team as the Hoffenheim forward has taken advantage of the opportunity to showcase his skills versus Dortmund this year, including the goal he scored in the last game that robbed them of two points. Volland has already proven himself in the Bundesliga and while they could have a tough time convincing Hoffenheim to move him, there is no doubt that Volland would make for an excellent fit for Dortmund.

Paulo Dybala

The 21-year-old Dybala would represent the optimal infusion of talent and youth for a Dortmund side that could use a little bit of both up front. He is fast, skilled and an excellent finisher that still hasn’t reached his peak potential. Dybala has had no problem finding the back of the net for Palermo in the Serie A this season, scoring a healthy 13 goals. That’s tied for the sixth most in the Italian league. There is no doubt he would thrive if he made the move to Dortmund.

Ciro Immobile

This might be the most obvious and easiest striker for Tuchel to bank on as he is already on the roster and has proven his exceptional level of talent at both the club and international level. The Italian striker struggled with Borussia Dortmund a year ago and there were calls for him to be traded, but the reality is that at this point, the team would be better off with him rather than without him unless they can find a better option. Immobile has the talent to succeed in Germany and if Tuchel doesn’t find a better replacement in the transfer window this summer, he needs to find a way to make sure that Immobile gets the opportunity to prove what he can do. Paired with Reus up front, there is real potential for this striker tandem to be more than dangerous.
