Utah State Aggies at Michigan State Spartans Betting Preview

Michigan State has been tabbed as heavily favored in this one and is currently giving up 24 points to Utah State. Oddsmakers have set the over/under (O/U) at 51 points. Should one squad can get out in front early on, it will likely generate a nice in-game betting opportunity.

Odds have shifted some from where they were first posted. The line opened at -25 while the game’s total was placed originally at 50.5.

The Aggies were 6-7 against the spread (ATS) last year. The under cashed in four of their games while the over hit on nine occasions. The Spartans assembled a record of 8-5 ATS with an O/U record of 6-7.

Overall, the Spartans went 10-3 straight up (SU) in 2017 while the Aggies posted a record of 6-7 last season. When playing against in-conference competition, the Aggies finished 4-4 SU while the Spartans were 7-2 SU versus Big Ten programs. Both schools finished 2-1 SU against out-of-conference competition in 2017.

The Aggies produced 215 passing yards per game and 193 rushing yards per game against their eight MWC opponents last year. They managed to score 32.6 points per game against those opponents while giving up 22.8 per contest. When playing out-of-conference schools, they averaged 27.8 points and 35.5 points-allowed, along with 240 pass yards per game and 124 rush yards per contest.

Against out-of-conference competition in 2017, the Spartans passed for 252 yards per game and rushed for 221 per game on their way to 27.0 points per outing. When facing only Big 10 opponents, the offensive unit registered 21.8 points per game by averaging 203 passing yards and 144 rushing yards. The Spartans defense allowed 20.7 PPG to non-conference foes and 20.1 to teams in conference

The Spartans ought to have the more disruptive lines up front. Their offensive line gave up just 21 sacks last season while their D-line registered 27 sacks. The Aggies offensive line allowed 28 sacks last year and their defense forced only 24 sacks.
