Howard to Tnterview with Wolves, No Western Conference Finals on Turkish TV and More

Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard and Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool will have interviews with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the head coach position, there will be no broadcast of the Western Conference Finals in Turkey. Elsewhere, Phoenix Suns Josh Jackson was arrested in Florida.

According to league sources, Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard and Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool are the most serious candidates for the head coach post with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The new Wolves president of basketball operations, Gersson Rosas, still has interim coach Ryan Saunders at the top of his wish list but he would like to keep his options open.

The Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers will start tonight and for the first time, the series will not be televised in Turkey because of Portland’s Enes Kanter alleged links to terrorists.

Although Kanter denied any terrorist links several times already, S Sport, the main TV broadcaster of NBA games in Kanter’s native country, Turkey, will not broadcast the series.

“I can say clearly that we will not be broadcasting the Warriors-Blazers series,”  S Sport commentator Omer Sarac told Reuters. “Furthermore, if Portland makes it to the finals, (that) will not be broadcast either,” he said.

Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and escape at the Rolling Loud music festival at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Although not permitted to enter the VIP area without a proper pass, Jackson tried to enter several times after which he was told to leave the area.

76ers coach Brown will return for 2019-20 season | ESPN

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown will return next season, according to managing partner Josh Harris. It will be Brown’s seventh season with the Sixers and he has support from key players such as Joel Embiid.

“I don’t think he should have anything to worry about,” Embiid said. “He’s an amazing coach, a better person, and obviously I’ve got a lot of love for him. If there is someone to blame, put it all on me.”
