Lakers News: Danny Green Didn’t Think Twice About Joining Lakers

Danny Green joined the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, and even though he said that coming to LA wasn’t a hard decision to make, he admits he waited for Kawhi Leonard to make his decision first.

Green and Leonard won a title together with the Raptors last season as they beat the Golden State Warriors in six games.

The Los Angeles Lakers were big favorites to land Leonard on a max-contract, and they patiently waited for him to decide which team he’d join. It was shocking news for the Lakers when they found out Leonard chose the Clippers, and they even felt a bit betrayed. In the meantime, the Lakers missed out on All-Stars such as D’Angelo Russell and Kemba Walker, but still, they managed to bring in Green, DeMarcus Cousins and Avery Bradley. Green admits that it was an easy decision to join the Lakers and compete for the NBA title next season.

“It was pretty obvious. It wasn’t a difficult decision,” Green said. “They have two superstars and they can build around them easy. I feel like I was a piece that could help add to a contender and help to turn the franchise around from the last couple of years or so.”

The Lakers assembled a strong side with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as crucial members of the roster, and it is no wonder why the bookmakers are giving them second-best chances to win the NBA championship, right behind the Clippers.

“I think we have a good roster on paper but it doesn’t matter until you put it to work and put it on the court. Everybody looks great in the preseason. We’ll see how healthy we stay and how good our chemistry is. We have some good veterans and leaders,” Green added.
