Bears News: Mitch Trubisky Goes Wild on Monday Night Football

NFL

Did you miss Monday Night Football between the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins? Indeed if you did, you missed former first-round pick Mitch Trubisky putting on a clinic at Fedex Field in Washington.

While the Bears built a 28-3 halftime lead, Trubisky provided all the heavy-lifting. Furthermore, he went 20 of 23 passing for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Keep in mind, this was after not throwing a touchdown for the first two weeks of the regular season.

Without question, the Washington defense the elixir Trubisky needed. For instance, just check out this play for a touchdown that put the Bears up 28-0:

Still, after a performance that had a quarterback rating of 116.5 at night’s end; Trubisky is saying all the right things.

“I think we’re still growing and evolving as an offense,” Trubisky said. “I don’t know if I’d call it a breakthrough yet. We got to keep getting better, keep growing. Definitely room for improvement and definitely in the second half, especially on my part. If we just stick to the process and keep growing and keep learning and sticking together, we’re going to be all right.”

Now, the Bears are in a little bit more of a ‘pole position’ heading in the meat of the regular season. Sitting at 2-1, everyone knows about their vaunted defense. For example, superstar Khalil Mack wreaked havoc with two sacks and two tackles for loss on his own.

However, if the Bears have an offense that can put points on the board like Trubisky and company did last night; they’re a real threat in the NFC moving forward. Moreover, it’s games like the one Trubisky had in front of a national TV audience where a reputation as a ‘game manager’ gets transitioned to ‘big time quarterback’ quickly.

In a culture that is about right now – the NFL is a feeding frenzy for these type of reactions. Simply put, you’re only as good or as bad as your last performance.

Finally, heading into week four against the Minnesota Vikings; Trubisky is certain to have his arrow pointing up with the fans and pundits alike.
