Week 15 of the NFL season brought concerning developments for two of the league’s standout players, as both linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Patrick Mahomes sustained significant knee injuries. The extent of their injuries and the timing late in the regular season could have sizable implications for their respective teams.

Dallas Cowboys defensive leader Micah Parsons left Sunday’s game after appearing to twist his knee during a non-contact play in the second half. He did not return to the field, and subsequent evaluations are ongoing. While the team has yet to release a definitive diagnosis, early reports suggest a potentially serious ligament injury. Parsons has been central to the Cowboys’ defensive unit, and his absence would be a considerable blow as Dallas looks to solidify its playoff seeding in the final weeks of the regular season.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also exited his game with a knee injury, reportedly sustaining it while scrambling in the third quarter. Mahomes was seen limping on the sidelines and did not return to play. Early indications suggest a possible sprain, pending MRI results. The Chiefs are already assured of a postseason appearance, but Mahomes’ status will be closely monitored as Kansas City evaluates its options heading into the playoffs.

Both players have been instrumental to their teams’ success, with Parsons anchoring one of the league’s most aggressive defenses and Mahomes continuing to lead a potent Kansas City offense. Their potential absences come at a critical juncture, with postseason positioning still in flux for both teams.

As the medical details become clearer in the coming days, team officials will have to adjust game plans accordingly. The Cowboys may need to lean more heavily on their secondary and depth at linebacker, while the Chiefs could turn to their backup quarterback should Mahomes be sidelined.

More information is expected to be released as team physicians complete their evaluations. For now, both Dallas and Kansas City await updates on two of their most vital contributors as the regular season winds down.
