Hockey Canada announced on Thursday that forward Brayden Point will not participate in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina due to a lower-body injury. In his place, Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis has been selected to join Team Canada for the tournament.

Point, currently a key player for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL, has been sidelined with an unspecified injury that will prevent him from competing in international play. He was expected to be a central part of Canada’s offensive strategy, bringing experience and a strong scoring presence to the national team. The specific nature and severity of his injury were not disclosed, but officials confirmed that he will miss the duration of the Olympic Games.

Seth Jarvis, 24, is in the midst of a strong season with the Hurricanes. Known for his speed and two-way play, Jarvis has grown into a reliable contributor in Carolina’s forward group. His ability to play in multiple roles made him a logical choice for Team Canada’s coaching staff, who are seeking versatility and high work ethic throughout their Olympic roster.

This will be Jarvis’ first appearance representing Canada at the Olympic level, although he has previously suited up for his country at junior tournaments. His addition brings youthful energy to a lineup that features a mix of NHL veterans and promising talent.

Team Canada’s roster has faced several changes leading up to the Games due to injuries and league commitments. With Point’s withdrawal and Jarvis’s inclusion, coaching staff will likely adjust line combinations and special teams formations in preparation for a competitive field in Milan-Cortina.

The Canadian men’s hockey team is scheduled to begin group play in the Olympic tournament later this month. Team Canada is looking to improve on its previous performance and add another gold medal to its storied Olympic history.
