WWE Royal Rumble PPV Odds

WWE Royal Rumble PPV Odds for Sunday – The World Wrestling Entertainment’s latest PPV offering comes to us this Sunday, January 29th from the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas. The “Royal Rumble” is on of the showcase events of the year, as the format sees one man emerge as the winner against a field of 30 competitors. For the feat, the winner is giving headline status at Wrestlemania in April, the WWE’s marquee pay-per-view event.

This year’s edition of the Rumble features an odd assortment of characters heading in, and there is a heavy reliance on the name recognition of older stars. The Undertaker is back for his first appearance in the 30 man brawl since 2009, and at 51 years old it is safe to say he cannot handle a full on RR appearance. Undertaker was last seen in 2016 when he did a series of very rough live appearances opposite Brock Lesnar, and the then 50 year old was reported to have collapsed after the rigors of throwing down with “The Beast Incarnate.”

Another older than 50 competitor slated to be in the Rumble is Bill Goldberg. Goldberg has been an attraction since his return after a 10 year absence, and he has also been pitted against Lesnar as his rival. Goldberg’s two minute demolition of Lesnar was really to mask that he is not ready for a 20 to 25 minute showcase, and that is likely to make his Rumble appearance something of a showcase as well.

Despite this, both Goldberg and Undertaker are in the Top 6 in terms of odds to win the Royal Rumble. Two of the other top spots are held by Braun Strowman and Randy Orton, teammates and members of the Wyatt family. Veteran Chris Jericho enjoys a top 5 spot and in the sixth spot is Brock Lesnar. Check the odds listed below.

Could a short stint in the Rumble lead to the Undertaker vs Goldberg at Wrestlemania? That would leave the door open for a win by Brock Lesnar at the Rumble. Over the last few years it would have been unusual for the WWE to have Lesnar playing second fiddle like this and a dominant win at this year’s Rumble would put his work of the last year behind him.

The WWE’s two principal titles are on the line in matches that see remarkably close lines. The WWE Championship is likely to be in Roman Reigns hands come April, however champion Kevin Owens has proven to be a terrific heel and it is hard to count him out. The “Universal” title has been in the hands of AJ Styles for almost six months and here he will be facing the face of the WWE for the last decade, John Cena. Just like in the Royal Rumble, it likes like the WWE’s penchant for falling back on aging stars could be rearing it’s ugly head in this one.
