The Philadelphia Eagles agreed Monday to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, according to ESPN writers Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss. The move followed weeks of discussion about a possible transfer to Foxborough.
Brown told the 7PM In Brooklyn podcast that he has supported the Patriots since childhood and that a large Patriots rug sat in his home for years. When asked where the rug came from, Brown said it had been purchased online and noted it had been in his house for a few seasons.
He said he kept the rug while playing for Philadelphia and described the Patriots as his team since he was a kid, adding that he fulfilled his role with the Eagles even as his longtime fandom remained. When news of the trade surfaced, Brown posted childhood photos of himself wearing a Tom Brady Patriots jersey.
After the deal was finalized, the 28-year-old shared a message thanking Philadelphia and its fans and calling his time with the Eagles an honor. Brown spent four seasons in Philadelphia and averaged 1,258 receiving yards per season.
In the 2025 campaign he recorded 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown also appeared in Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LIX for the Eagles and contributed 43 receiving yards and one touchdown in the Eagles victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
