ADCC 2017 Odds

ADCC 2017 Odds – Under 88KG Tournament – The ADCC 2017 Submission Fighting World Championships are set for September 23rd and 24th in Helsinki, Finland and you can find odds for the tournaments only at BETDSI.

The winner of the 2015 competition, Yuri Simoes is not competing in this year’s tournament but ADCC 2013 tournament winner Romulo Barral is back. Barral has been installed as the top seed, returning at +350.

Returning at +400 is American Keenan Cornelius. Cornelius has now been around for a long time and he has made the transition from up-and-coming phenom to being one of the most decorated grapplers in the world today.

There is a “but” around Cornelius and his resume and that is the following: yes, he is top notch, BUT he has never won an ADCC title. Cornelius has tried. In 2013, he finished in third place, beating 2009 champion Pablo Popovitch in the 3-4 match. In 2015, Cornelius improved on the performance, finishing second to Simoes. For Cornelius, the time to seize the ADCC title that has eluded him is now.

As is the case with many of the fields in this year’s competition, an intriguing pair of veterans with a lot of ADCC pedigree pop up in the under 88KG class.

American Pablo Popovich has been an ADCC champion and he is also known as the man who stopped Marcelo Garcia’s incredible ADCC run when he defeated Garcia in the 2009 under 77 KG tournament. For subsequent competitions at ADCC Popovich moved up n weight to the 88 KG class. Popovitch scored a third-place finish in 2011 and a 4th place run in 2013 before bowing out in the opening round of the 2015 competition.

Popovitch has been a case of “diminishing returns” since his peak in 2009 and when he won his ADCC title he was a massive welterweight while at this weight he is just a mid-sized fighter.

To trace Alexandre Ribiero’s ADCC story yo have to go back a LONG way. He was in his older brother Saulo’s corner during the ADCC tournaments in 2000 and 2001 and he entered his first ADCC competition in 2003. In 2005 he earned a third-place finish in the under 99 KG tournament and he took home the tournament titles in 2007 and 2009. This year we get a leaner, meaner version of Ribiero as he looks to turn back the clock.

Another notable entry in the tournament is Dillon Danis, though Danis is competing in this weight class for the first time and he will be on the small side against some of this year’s competitors.
