Outfielder Adolis Garcia is close to signing a one-year, $10 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. The deal would bring Garcia to the National League for the first time in his Major League career, after several seasons with the Texas Rangers.
Garcia, 31, is coming off a season that saw a dip in production compared to his breakout performances with the Rangers. Despite the downturn, his power and outfield defense remain significant assets, and the Phillies are banking on a return to form in 2026. Known for his strong arm and ability to generate extra-base hits, Garcia has 97 career home runs and a .768 OPS over parts of five MLB seasons.
During his tenure with Texas, Garcia earned an All-Star selection and established himself as an integral part of their lineup. His best season came in 2023, when he posted career highs in several offensive categories and played a key role in the Rangers’ postseason run.
With the Phillies, Garcia is expected to slot into the middle of the batting order, bringing added depth to an already potent offense. Philadelphia, which reached the postseason in each of the past three years, has prioritized adding experienced players who can contribute immediately.
The Phillies’ outfield mix previously included a rotation of power hitters and defensive specialists. Garcia’s arrival adds both offensive potential and veteran presence to the group. His defensive versatility allows him to play all three outfield positions, although he has spent most of his career in right field.
While the team has not formally confirmed the agreement, final details are expected to be completed soon. Garcia’s signing would mark another key addition for Philadelphia this offseason as the club prepares for another competitive run in the National League.
The Phillies open their spring training schedule in February, and Garcia is expected to join the team once the deal is official.
