American Idol Season 16 Odds: Gabby Barrett favorite to win finale

American Idol

Luke Bryan, Katie Perry and Lionel Richie have made all their cases. Now it’s up to America itself to choose its own Idol. The remaining trio of contestants for American Idol Season 16 (the first season for ABC) rocked the country Sunday night while setting up a tantalizing finale for Monday to see who is crowned the next champion. Votes are in and odds are out, and Gabby Barrett is leading the pack by a wide margin.

This won’t be exactly and “Landslide” victory for Barrett, a song which she nailed in the final performances, but the sweet-toned temptress was already the odds-on favorite going into this week’s final shows. The American Idol odds at BetDSI Sportsbook going into the weekend listed Barrett as a -220 favorite, meaning you had to risk much more ($220) than you stood to win ($100).

While the finale stage appeared a bit too big for Caleb Hutchinson, the kid went into Sunday night as the second favorite with +200 odds. Earlier this season, you could have had Hutchinson at better than 10/1 odds.

Maddie Poppe was the “underdog” going into the two-night finale of American Idol. She probably did enough to sway the voters and get into the runner-up position in Season 16, but it’s doubtful she can leap Barrett for the victory.

Here are the final American Idol odds from BetDSI Sportsbook:

American Idol – Season 16 Winner

Gabby Barrett -300
Maddie Poppe +400
Caleb Lee Hutchinson +700

As if Barrett needed the help in the final performances Sunday, she had a nice little surprise duet with none other than Steve Perry as she sang Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'”.

Katy Perry may have given Hutchinson a little boost of her own (he’ll need it) by pretending to vote for him. According to Variety, her phone wasn’t even on.

The results from the final vote will be aired tonight at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
