America’s Got Talent: 8/21 Recap

America's Got Talent

In case you missed it, 12 acts performed on America’s Next Top Model … sorry, America’s Got Talent (did you see Tyra’s entrance?). However, only seven acts advanced to the next round.

To kick off America’s Got Talent, it’s Heidi’s Golden Buzzer pick, 15-year-old singer Makayla Phillips, who has a great voice and comes out in smoke. I think her backup singers are overpowering her a little. She does seem quite comfortable though and that’s great.

Da Republik is up next and performing a dance routin. I actually didn’t notice them as much before this. Fun. Do I think they are a million dollar act and worthy of winning America’s Got Talent? Sorry, no. Not yet anyway.

The next singer is Noah Guthrie. I love his raspy voice, but this song started out a little slow for me. He gets into it and sounds great. Simon says he’s really proud of Noah doing his own song and he’s the comeback kid and Simon likes him a lot. Howie doesn’t like the song as much.

Yumbo Dump is up next and this is what I call my bathroom break. At the end, I see three X’s but Simon takes his back. Wait, what is happening? Mel takes her X back, too – I’m done.

Comedian Samuel Comroe is performing next and I really like this guy. Everybody stands up for him. I don’t think it’s his best routine, but he’s funny. Heidi didn’t like this performance either.

Voices of Hope, the children’s choir, perform and how can you not like them? Unfortunately, for me, I feel like I’m watching a school choir performance – I’ve been to many of them in my life. They are good, but I think there are stronger acts. But hey, they got Simon to sway his arms! Simon and Mel go back and forth because Mel didn’t like the show choice, but Simon did.

The cat group, The Savitski Cats, are up next and they are doing a great job. Fun to watch! Howie said he doesn’t think they stepped it up. Mel loved the cats, but wasn’t impressed. Heidi loved it.

Singer Glennis Grace who has a Whitney Houston-vibe about her is up next and this woman is a superstar. I feel like we are watching her concert. Unfortunately I feel like she was a little pitchy in spots, but overall amazing. Simon told her she had a moment.

Riana the Magician – if you excuse me, I’ll be hiding in the corner. This girl deserves her own creepy magic show. I don’t think this act was as good as her others, but I’ll deny that if you tell her.

I’ll skip Quin and Misha – she’s a good dancer, but not something I see as a million dollar act at all. Heidi and Mel stand for her, but I’m not impressed, sorry.

Front Pictures – who use virtual reality in their act – is the wild card who went through to the live shows. I love this performance. It’s got a story, not just pictures and motion. That was spectacular.

If you recall, Duo Transcend dropped her in their last performance, so my nerves are on edge. Let’s see what happens today. I LOVE these guys. They are the last act tonight – the love they have for each other is amazing. They are just beautiful to watch too. They are doing the same death-defying part of their act again – I love the heart beat music. Amazing! We’ll see if they make it through to the next round of America’s Got Talent – I hope so!
