Anthony Joshua vs Eric Molina Odds and More

Anthony Joshua vs Eric Molina Odds – This Saturday at the Manchester Arena in the U.K., Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing promotion hit with one of their biggest cards of the year. The main event sees IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0) defending his title against the challenge of Eric Molina (25-3).

For the 27-year-old Joshua, this will be the second defense of the world title he won back in April, 2016 when he stopped American Charles Martin in the second round. As for Molina, the veteran is coming off a big win in April when he stopped Poland’s Tomas Adamek in Warsaw to earn this title shot. A lot has been made about Molina being a weak opponent for Joshua, but to the champion and promoter Hearn’s credit, the two worked on luring Wladimir Klitschko for this fight. Klitschko is on the shelf, however, but he is waiting in the wings for a Joshua fight and that match now looks like it may get set for April of 2017. Joshua is expected to get by Molina, and the wide line at the books is the result.

A pair of other heavyweight bouts appear on the card with some big names. Returning on less than a month’s notice is undefeated Cuban Luis Ortiz (26-0) as he faces David Allen (9-1-1) in an eight-round bout that is designed to showcase the hard hitting Ortiz. The 24 year old Allen stepped up to face Dillian Whyte last July and here he steps into another fight where the promoters are showcasing the other fighter.

Speaking of Dillian Whyte (19-1), he is coming off his win over Allen and he faces Dereck Chisora (26-6) on Saturday’s card. Whyte is being brought along by promoter Hearn as a once and future foil to Joshua. Whyte’s only loss as a pro comes at the hands of Joshua, and the two have a history that goes back to their days as amateurs. There is no doubt that Hearn is looking to keep Whyte undefeated until he can justify matching him up with Joshua a second time. With the youthful age of both men, we are looking at a potential heavyweight trilogy between Whyte and Joshua. However, Whyte has to get by the experienced Chisora first.

A world super flyweight title is on the line as Luis “El Nica” Concepcion (35-4-1) defends his WBA title against the challenge of undefeated Khalid Yafai (20-0).

Also on the undercard is Ireland’s Katie Taylor. Taylor turned pro this past November 26th and this is her second professional fight after a decorated amateur career. Providing the opposition is Switzerland’s Viviane Obenauf (9-1).
