Arsenal have announced the signing of Czech international goalkeeper Barbora Votíková on a loan deal from Slavia Prague, which will keep her at the club until the end of the current season.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper brings experience to the Women’s Super League side, having previously played for Paris Saint-Germain in France’s Division 1 Féminine. Votíková has also been a regular feature in the Czech Republic national team setup.
Her loan move comes at a significant time for Arsenal, who are aiming to strengthen their squad depth as they continue their domestic and European campaigns. With regular competition for the starting goalkeeper spot, Votíková is expected to provide additional options and potentially compete for minutes in goal.
Arsenal’s goalkeeping lineup this season has included established names, but the club has looked to ensure adequate cover and rotation, particularly given the demands of a congested fixture schedule. The addition of Votíková supports head coach Jonas Eidevall’s plans to maintain depth and quality throughout the squad.
Before returning to Slavia Prague in the 2023–24 season, Votíková had sustained an injury during her tenure at PSG, which temporarily sidelined her. Since then, she has regained fitness and returned to form, prompting Arsenal’s interest in securing her services for the remainder of the campaign.
Votíková’s presence is also expected to offer mentorship for some of Arsenal’s younger players, given her international experience and prior stints in Europe’s top leagues.
Arsenal are currently competing in multiple competitions, including the Women’s Super League and domestic cup tournaments, which makes squad rotation and strategic depth crucial. Votíková’s arrival aims to bolster those efforts.
No option to buy has been announced as part of the loan agreement. The club has not yet disclosed whether Votíková will be immediately available for selection.
Further details regarding her debut and squad number are expected to be released in the coming days.
