As the New Orleans Saints shift their focus to the 2026 offseason, one of the most pressing concerns for the team is the limited depth at wide receiver. With Chris Olave set to return for the final year of his rookie contract, the team faces significant questions about the supporting group of pass catchers available on the roster.

Olave has established himself as a reliable target since being drafted, but beyond him, the Saints are facing a shortage of proven talent at the position. The lack of experience and production among the remaining wide receivers raises the need for the front office to explore free agency, the upcoming draft, or potential trades to bolster the unit.

The Saints’ offense in recent seasons has relied on consistent route-running and versatility at the wide receiver and tight end positions. However, injuries and departures have left gaps in the depth chart. The absence of complementary options makes it easier for opposing defenses to focus on shutting down Olave, highlighting the team’s need for multiple viable receiving threats.

In addition to wide receivers, the tight end position may also warrant attention. A dependable tight end could provide much-needed balance to the passing game and serve as a crucial outlet for quarterbacks. Depending on the direction the team takes with its quarterback situation, pass-catching options that can create separation and contribute in key moments will be a high priority.

General Manager Mickey Loomis and Head Coach Dennis Allen are expected to evaluate all options during the offseason. Whether through drafting a young receiver or acquiring a seasoned veteran, improvements in the passing game will be essential for the Saints to remain competitive in the NFC South.

As preparations begin for training camp and roster reshaping, rebuilding the receiver corps will be a central storyline in New Orleans’s 2026 offseason strategy.
