Atlanta United is close to securing the transfer of U.S. youth international Adrian Gill from Spanish club Barcelona, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. While neither club has publicly confirmed the deal, discussions are said to be in advanced stages.

Gill, a midfielder, is part of the U.S. youth national system and has spent his formative years with Barcelona’s La Masia academy, one of the most renowned youth development programs in the world. His potential move to Major League Soccer marks a significant step for both player and club. For Atlanta United, the signing would reinforce their continued investment in young talent, particularly from international pathways.

Originally born in the United States, Gill moved to Spain at a young age and has been eligible to represent both the U.S. and Spain at the youth level. He has previously been called up to U.S. youth national team camps, underscoring his connection to American soccer development despite his time overseas.

At Barcelona, Gill was part of the club’s youth squads and has been recognized for his composure on the ball, vision, and tactical awareness—traits that have drawn attention from scouts and coaches alike. While he has yet to make a senior appearance for Barcelona, his performances at the youth level have positioned him as a player with strong potential.

A move to MLS would provide Gill with a clearer pathway to first-team soccer, given the competitive structure and the willingness of clubs like Atlanta United to incorporate young players into the senior side. Atlanta United, since joining the league, has established itself as a destination for emerging talent, blending youth development with international recruitment.

It remains to be seen when the transfer will be formally completed or when Gill would join the team, but the move represents a strategic acquisition for Atlanta as it builds toward the upcoming season.
