Baseball Betting: The Boston Red Sox visit the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night in what could be a high-scoring match-up. The Angels are the second highest scoring team in the league while the Red Sox have an improved lineup with the addition of Cespedes and Craig. Let’s look at this match-up and baseball predictions.
Red Sox Pitching
It should be Allen Webster who gets the call on Friday for Boston. He has made two starts this season and not much has gone right for him. He is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA. He pitched okay his first time out as he went 5.1 innings against the Rays but it all fell apart last time out against the Yankees as he went just 2.2 innings and allowed four runs. There is no reason to think he can hold down the Angels in this one on Friday.
Jered Weaver has been pretty good for the most part this season with an ERA under four but he still doesn’t look like the dominant starter he was a couple of years ago. If the Angels are to win the AL West they need Weaver to be a top pitcher because the A’s pitching staff looks really good at the top with Gray and Lester.
Game Notes
The Angels have taken seven of the last 10 in this series. The teams have not met since last July when the Angels took two of three at home. This has been a series where the road team has done okay as the teams have split their last ten in Anaheim. Three of the last four have gone over the total in Anaheim. The Red Sox have been a poor road team this season while the Angels have been excellent at home so Los Angeles should have the edge in this series.
