Bellator 119: A Look At the Undercard! 5/6/2014

Bellator 119 comes to us this Friday night from Ontario, Canada with a card that has seen a lot of attrition.  With MMA veterans Marius Zaromskis, John Alessio and Brian Rogers on the card, Bellator’s card is respectable though the main events of Daniel Weichel vs Desmond Green and Chris Horodecki and Marlon Sandro fall a bit short.

Interested in betting on the Bellator 119 card coming up next weekend, or on the May 17th PPV?  Or any of the other MMA events on the calendar?  Head over to BETDSI and open an account now!

Zaromskis is in bad need of a win, as he has dropped two in a row under the Bellator flag after starting off 3-0 with the group.  Vaughn Anderson, his opponent brings an impressive record of 16-2-1, but one of those losses came in his only Bellator appearance.  Most of Anderson’s competition experience comes from China, where certainly he learned to be mentally tough but his level of competition is questionable.  Zaromskis has comepted at a high level all over the world for years, and should be a slight favorite heading into the fight.

John Alessio, a well traveled veteran of over 50 fights, is at a crossroads at 34.  He went 0-2 in a brief UFC stint, dropping fights to Mark Bocek and Shane Roller, and he has not won since, including a September 2013 loss to Will Brooks.  He fights Eric Wisely, who is a veteran of the midwest scene in the USA and holds wins over guys such as Hermes Franca, Matt Veach and Brian Geragthy, all fighters roughly Alessio’s level.  And after 50 plus fights, is Alessio really gonna add something to his game?

Brett Rogers is now 3-4 under the Bellator flag and that includes dropping his last two, so he may be on his way out.  Adrian Miles is making his debut with the company, and he enters with a strong 7 fight winning streak buoying him.   Bellator is not the UFC when it comes to first fight jitters, but there are open questions about Miles’ competition level.  This one is a guessing game, as a motivated Rogers may be too much for Miles, but Miles may be hungry for his shot.  If the line has Rogers as an underdog, he may be worth a look.
