Blues Force Game 7, San Jose and Boston Look to Finish Tonight and More

The St. Louis Blues had their backs against the wall in Game 6, but they handled the pressure beautifully. Jaden Schwartz led the way with a goal and an assist as the Blues beat the Stars 4-1 to force Game 7 back in St. Louis. Two other teams will be looking to force Game 7 tonight, but unlike the Blues they will have the benefit of playing at home.

St. Louis will have the benefit of home ice in Game 7 of its series with Dallas after yesterday’s win. Sammy Blais, David Perron, Alex Pietrangelo, and Schwartz scored the goals for the Blues in the win, and Jordan Binnington stopped 22 of 23 shots.

Many Dallas fans are upset at St. Louis for continuing to play after Ben Bishop fell to the ice following a hard slapshot from Colton Parayko, but Bishop has a reputation for being a bit of a diver. He has already embellished some contact a couple times this series, so the referees were a little reticent to blow their whistles after he fell in the third period of last night’s game.

Boston will look to close out its series with Columbus by winning Game 6 in Ohio’s capital tonight. The Blue Jackets were not great at home in the regular season, but they have won three out of four home games this postseason.

It’s win or go home for Colorado, and the Avalanche are looking to make it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2001-02 season. Colorado is 3-1 at home this postseason, and this team will be depending on its dominant first line to force Game 7 in San Jose.

It’s looking like another NHL veteran will be joining Steve Yzerman in Detroit. Pat Verbeek is rumored to be heading from Tampa Bay to the Motor City, as Detroit’s rebuild in the front office continues.
