Gabriel Bonfim moved up the ESPN welterweight rankings after a decisive victory over former champion Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, according to ESPN.
Bonfim won every one of the five rounds on each judge’s scorecard and improved to 20-1 with his fifth straight win. The 28-year-old Brazilian climbed from No. 10 to No. 7 in a highly competitive 170-pound division, per ESPN.
The only other change in the divisional rankings came at women’s bantamweight. UFC champion Kayla Harrison and former titleholder Julianna Peña were removed from the top 10 for inactivity, and Luana Santos and Nora Cornolle entered the list, ESPN reports. Joselyne Edwards is listed as the new No. 1 at 135 pounds.
ESPN published updated pound-for-pound MMA rankings and a list of current UFC champions with results current as of June 9, the outlet said.
Per ESPN’s eligibility guidelines, fighters must have competed in the past 12 months or have an upcoming fight booked to appear in the rankings. Fighters dropped for inactivity can only be reinstated after they compete, the network noted.
