Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo left Tuesday night’s 7-4 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth inning with what manager Skip Schumaker said was a sprained left ankle, according to Schumaker. X-rays were clear, the report says, and Nimmo will be considered day-to-day.
The injury occurred when Nimmo’s left foot struck the edge of first baseman Ildemaro Vargas’ foot as Nimmo tried to leg out an infield single, the report says. He came up limping, remained in the game for a few pitches and was eventually replaced by pinch runner Sam Haggerty.
Texas held a 7-1 lead on the Diamondbacks when the play took place, per the report. Nimmo finished the night 3-for-4 and recorded a triple, the report says.
Per the report, Nimmo is batting .276 this season with four home runs and 12 RBIs. Manager Schumaker’s comments provided the update on Nimmo’s status following the game.
