Brighton have agreed a new three-year contract with head coach Fabian Hürzeler that runs until June 2029, the report says. The 33-year-old German joined the club at the start of last season and has guided his side to eighth in the Premier League, leaving them on the cusp of European qualification, per the report.
Hürzeler described his delight at the new deal and his attachment to the club and city, saying he is pleased to have secured a long-term commitment that strengthens his determination to succeed and to deliver on a shared long-term vision, the report says.
The coach said his work has focused on forging an identity, developing the team, challenging the establishment and raising standards. He added that he is proud of what has been achieved so far and that he is excited about what remains to be done, according to the report.
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom praised Hürzeler’s progress, saying the coach has continued the club’s recent advancement with consistent performances and a clear playing identity, per the report. Bloom noted that this season Hürzeler has built on the foundations laid in his first campaign, when he led the team to an impressive eighth place, and that the side has shown resilience, intensity and control.
With three matches left in the season, Brighton are pushing for a strong finish, the report says. Their remaining fixtures begin with a visit from Wolves on Saturday, and the club framed the contract extension as reflecting a commitment to a shared long-term vision.
