Burns vs Relikh Odds For Sat in Scotland

Burns vs Relikh Odds – This Friday, October 7th at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland three weight class world champion Ricky Burns (40-5-1) returns to action as he faces undefeated Belarussian Kiryl Relikh (21-0) with his WBA world super lightweight championship on the line.

Expect the Ricky Burns fans to be out in full force this Friday in Glasgow, as the 33 year old is one of Scotland’s most decorated all-time boxers. Back in March of 2014 Burns lost his lightweight world title to Terence Crawford, and in a spell of five fights he went 1-3-1 so many people were writing him off. Burns put together a modest two fight winning streak to end 2015 that earned him a fight with Michele Di Rocco (40-1-1) for the WBA’s vacant super lightweight belt. The win put Burns back on the world scene a bit unexpectedly, however he is going to have a massive advantage over his opponent in experience and in overall quality of opposition for this upcoming fight.

Relikh brings stopping power to the fight as he has 19 KOs in his 21 wins. Relikh has fought twice in England, and having that experience under his belt could be invaluable, however for both of his British fights he fought journeymen from Latin American countries (Nicaragua and Brazil) and that is not going to prepare you to face Ricky Burns in a Ricky Burns house at the SSE. Relikh is going to have youth on his side, as he comes in 7 years younger than Burns.

For the future, Burns is likely to keep on fighting in Scotland where he is a lucrative draw, but at this point in his career he could parlay a win here into a big money fight in the United States. Burns name has come up as a potential opponent for American loud mouth Adrien Broner, and Broner has surfaced again calling Burns out. Whether he draws Broner to England or travels to the U.S. to face the American, that fight would be an attention getter of a different level for Burns. He has to get by Relikh first.

This is one of those fights that may be worth looking at Relikh in the underdog spot. He is unlikely to get a judge’s decision over the wily Burns and the gritty champion has never been stopped, but if you are a believer that Burns is past his prime Relikh may be able to slow Burns down over the course of a long fight.

The show is promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing and has nine fights on the schedule. Two regional title fights are also getting attention at the books as British Lightweight champion Scott Cardle (20-0-1) defends his title against Kevin Hooper (19-3) and heavyweights Dillian Whyte (18-1) and Ian Lewiston (12-2-1) clash for the vacant British title in that weight class.
