Buy or Sell: Oklahoma Won’t Make Final Four

Now that they’ve lost three of their last five, people suddenly saying that Oklahoma won’t make the Final Four are gaining a bit of attention, and even credibility.

Their most recent loss was on the road in Austin, where the Longhorns rallied from a three-point halftime deficit and ran away with things, ultimately winning 76-63. While losing to UT isn’t extremely alarming, the lack of offensive consistency as of late is what has become most concerning.

The Sooners have consistently shot under 40-percent from the field during this recent stretch, creating worries that either this team peaked too early and are now receding to the mean, or are simply in a slump, but remain highly vulnerable to an off-night once the NCAA Tournament arrives.

While I’m not ready to sell Oklahoma’s chances of making a run deep into the NCAA Tournament and to the Final Four, it’s certainly alarming that they’ve started to look so beatable. But as always with this team, when you have a star like Buddy Hield in the fold, anything is possible–from a first weekend exit, to a Final Four.
