CFL Betting: Week 19 Rundown

The Calgary Stampeders continued their march to the best record in the CFL with another lopsided win in Week 18 when they took down the Toronto Argonauts with a 31-13 victory. The Stampeders will look to finish off their regular season in style this Sunday with a chance to improve to 16-1-1 when they face the Montreal Alouettes. The six teams that will compete in this year’s postseason are already locked in but the playoff seeding is still up in the air with two weeks left in the regular season. Here is your CFL betting rundown for week 19.

Friday, October 28

Edmonton Eskimos @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats

CFL Betting Odds: Hamilton -1.5

The Tiger-Cats answered back with a 39-36 win over Ottawa last week to pull to within one half-game of the Redblacks for top spot in the East division. Now Hamilton will try to win out with the hope that they can get some help as they chase an East division title. The Tiger-Cats will play each of their final two games at home against the Eskimos and Alouettes, and they should get a boost this week with Zach Collaros set to return to the lineup. Edmonton had its three-game win streak snapped last week by the Lions and they will be in tough to bounce back this week on the road in a tough environment at Tim Hortons Field. However, keep in mind that the Ti-Cats are just 3-4 at home this season while the Eskimos are 4-4 on the road.

Pick: Hamilton -1.5

Ottawa Redblacks @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers

CFL Betting Odds: Winnipeg -5

The Redblacks will likely need to win out with back-to-back games against Winnipeg to close out the season beginning with a Week 19 tilt on the road. Surprisingly, they’ve been better on the road than they have at home. In front of their own audience, they’re just 2-5-1 but on the road they’re 5-3-0.

The Blue Bombers are coming off a bye week following back-to-back wins over BC and they won’t take their foot off the gas with a chance to beat out the Lions for second spot in the West division. Henry Burris has looked strong for Ottawa of late but needs to cut down on the interceptions. That won’t be easy against a talented Winnipeg defense, but the Redblacks should be able to at least keep this game close. The Blue Bombers are just 4-4 at home this season compared to 6-2 on the road.

Pick: Ottawa +5

Saturday, October 29

BC Lions @ Saskatchewan Roughriders

CFL Betting Odds: BC -3

The Lions are coming off a win over Edmonton with back-to-back games against Saskatchewan to close out the season. The Roughriders showed signs of life with four straight wins before hitting a wall in a 19-14 loss to Montreal last week and they have nothing left to play for other than pride. Saskatchewan should bounce back with a better effort this week but that doesn’t mean they will beat a BC team still fighting for second spot in the West division. Look for Jonathon Jennings and company to pick up from where they left off last week and deliver another big performance on offense to earn an important win on the road. The Roughriders are just 3-5 at home this season. They have allowed the second-most points in the CFL this season.

Pick: BC-3

Sunday, October 30

Calgary Stampeders @ Montreal Alouettes

CFL Betting Odds: Calgary -9.5

The Alouettes surprised a lot of people when they held Saskatchewan to 14 points in a 19-14 win over the Roughriders last week. However, any optimism coming out of the win is about to be crushed with the Stampeders juggernaut in town this week. Calgary has been absolutely dominating its opponents over the past couple of weeks and Bo Levi Mitchell has no intention of slowing things down in their final stop of the regular season. The Stampeders don’t play in Week 20 and they will get a first round playoff bye so it will be important for them to keep their rhythm going in this game heading in to a substantial break. Look for Mitchell to put up big numbers once again as Calgary dominates this game from start to finish.

Pick: Calgary -9.5
