CFL Betting:  The top two teams in the CFL meet on Thursday night as the 4-0 Edmonton Eskimos host the 3-0 Calgary Stampeders.  The winner of this game will be in first place in the West Division.  It could be a low scoring contest on Thursday as this game will match up the top two defensive teams in the league.  The Stampeders are first in the league, allowing just 10 points per game while the Eskimos are second, allowing 14.5 points per contest. Here is a look at the game and CFL picks.

Calgary Stampeders 3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS

Calgary was not pretty in their last win but they got past the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 10-7 to go to 3-0 for the first time in 14 years. The Calgary offense has simply not been the same without running back Jon Cornish who has been out due to a concussion.  The Stamps are hoping he returns this week.  Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell struggled against Hamilton but he is still 6-0 in his career as a starting quarterback.  The Calgary defense saved the team as they throttled Hamilton. Defensive coordinator Rich Stubler has the team putting pressure on opposing teams with sacks, interceptions and fumble recoveries.

Edmonton Eskimos 4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS

The Eskimos took out an unbeaten team last week as they routed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the road. Now they will try and take out another unbeaten as they host Calgary.  The Eskimos are second in defense and they are also second in points as they are averaging 27 points per game.

Game Trends

Calgary has covered five of their last six road games.  They have struggled a bit against winning teams though as they are just 1-3-1 against teams with a winning record.  Edmonton has not been that great at home against the spread as they are just 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.  Calgary’s last seven road games have all gone under. Five of the last seven Edmonton home games have gone under.  In this series, the Stampeders have won the last four meetings.

CFL Picks

We’ll look for the recent trends to continue and for the Stampeders to win this one on the road.
