Champions League DFS Lineup For Wednesday

The quarterfinal round of the Champions League will continue on Wednesday with a pair of intriguing matchups. Atletico Madrid will open against Leicester City while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will meet in a clash of titans. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Wednesday’s DraftKings Champions League daily fantasy leagues.

GK: Jan Oblak, Atletico Madrid

Salary: $6,000

Atletico Madrid has what appears to be the more favorable matchup of the two on Wednesday against a Leicester City side that has underachieved. Oblak should be in line for the win with a potential clean sheet bonus in play on Wednesday. While Atletico Madrid hasn’t done a ton at the offensive end in the Champions League, they have been arguably the best team at the back end. They have allowed just four goals so far, which is the second-best number only to Juventus (two goals allowed)

D: Diego Godin, Atletico Madrid

Salary: $3,700

After locking in oblak based on his favorable matchup, it only makes sense to scout Atletico Madrid’s defense for some strong value options. Godin certainly fits the bill as a quality defender priced at under $4K.

D: Stefan Savic, Atletico Madrid

Salary: $3,400

Savic is another strong fit based on his relatively low price tag. While we were tempted to look at the other matchup for this selection, the reality is that we want to try to avoid what should be the higher scoring game when it comes to our defender selections.

M: Arjen Robben, Bayern Munich

Salary: $7,200

Our first pick from this matchup will be the dynamic Bayern midfielder Robben, who is capable of leading all fantasy scorers every time he takes the field. Robben will be leaned on against Real Madrid and at just over $7K he won’t force us to break the bank. Bayern has been one of the best teams in terms of offense in Champions League fantasy. They have scored 24 goals, which comes out to a 3.0 average. Only two other teams have scored more goals than them (Barcelona and Dortmund).

M: Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City

Salary: $6,500

Mahrez might not be involved in a high scoring game but his price tag combined with his talent is too much to resist in this spot. Mahrez is available at under $7K, which makes him an excellent value pick for Wednesday’s Champions League action. Leicester City has had a tumultuous season in the English Premier League but they’ve managed to be respectable in the Champions League action. However, we haven’t often looked to them for fantasy purposes. They have scored just 10 goals so far, which averages out to a 1.25 goal per game average.

F: Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid

Salary: $10,200

No lineup should be completed without Ronaldo on Wednesday. The star striker will have another opportunity to make his mark in Champions League action and there is every reason to expect him to shine under the bright lights. The most expensive play on the board for Wednesday’s Champions League action is definitely worth the price here.

F: Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid

Salary: $9,000

After saving with some smart decisions at the defender and midfield spots, we are able to spend a little more on our forward options. That is a good thing with Griezmann looking to continue his dominance against Leicester in another favorable matchup for him.

Atletico Madrid hasn’t been that strong of an offensive team in the Champions League but we’re banking on the situation changing a little bit here. Atletico has scored a total of 11 goals so far, That boils down to 1.38 goals per game.

FLEX: Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid

Salary: $3,800

Our final pick is a combination of potential and finding the best available player with the money that we have left over. Ramos might be involved in a higher scoring game, but he also has the potential to contribute offensively as a defender that isn’t afraid ot jump up in the attack. At under $4K, Ramos is the best available option left for our final FLEX position. Real Madrid has been one of the best teams to look at for Champions League fantasy. They’ve scored 22 so far, which boils down to 2.75 goals per game.
