Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox Betting Preview 09/21/18

The Chicago Cubs will head across town to Guaranteed Rate Field to take on the Chicago White Sox. NBC Sports Chicago will showcase this interleague matchup and the first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET.

Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox Odds

the White Sox (+150) are coming into this one as the underdog to The Cubs (-160) and Vegas has set the Over/Under for this day game at nine runs. The odds for betting on the game’s total stand at -120 for the under and +100 for the over. You can also bet on the game’s runline with the current odds sitting at -110 for the Cubs -1.5 runs and -110 for the White Sox +1.5.

The Cubs have gone 89-63 SU this year and are 75-77 against the spread (ATS). The team hasn’t moved the needle much this year, gaining 3.5 units for moneyline gamblers, despite having lost 2.0 units ATS. The White Sox, on the other hand, are 60-92 SU and 77-74 ATS. The White Sox are going with righty Reynaldo Lopez (6-9, 4.05 ERA), who has 138 strikeouts and 70 walks, as well as a WHIP of 1.29. Lopez did not record a start against the Cubs in 2017.

the Cubs’ pitching staff allowed 3.9 runs per game and their starters own a 3.89 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 7.84 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.30, along with a K/9 of 8.62.

The Cubs offense has slashed .259/.337/.413 on its way to 4.7 runs scored per game in 2018, including 2.9 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 3.2 per game over the team’s last five outings (3-2 SU).

Second baseman Javier Baez and first baseman Anthony Rizzo continue to lead Chicago’s hitters. Baez is hitting .294/.329/.569 with 33 home runs, 107 RBIs, 96 runs and 21 stolen bases, while Rizzo is hitting .276 with 24 homers, 95 RBIs and 68 runs scored.
