Chicago Cubs at Washington Nationals Betting Preview 09/06/18

The Washington Nationals are set to play host to the Chicago Cubs at Nationals Park. NBC Sports Chicago will be televising this NL matchup and the game gets underway at 7:05 p.m. ET.

Chicago (+115) is the underdog to Washington (-125) and oddsmakers have the Over/Under for this game at 8.5 runs (-105 for the over and -115 for the under). Bettors can also wager on the game’s runline with the current odds sitting at Cubs +1.5 runs (-180) and Nationals -1.5 runs (+160).

The Cubs have gone 82-57 SU this year and are 70-68 against the spread (ATS). The team hasn’t moved the needle much this year, gaining 3.4 units for gamblers taking the moneyline and 1.9 units ATS. The Washington offense is putting up 4.6 runs per outing, including 5.9 per game over its last 10 games and 5.4 per game over its last five. The team has hit .281/.379/.421 over its last five matchups and is 2-3 SU during that stretch.

The Nationals’ offense has been led by Trea Turner, who is hitting .271/.340/.413 with 17 home runs, 58 RBIs, 86 runs and 35 steals.

In the other dugout, Chicago’s pitching staff allowed 4.0 runs per game and its starting pitchers own a 3.93 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 7.67 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.36, along with a WHIP of 1.35.

The Nationals are coming off of a 7-6 loss against the Cardinals, while the Cubs just got a 6-4 victory over the Brewers.
