Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes Week 9 Status

Life in the NFL means you’re going to miss some practice time and games. Moreover, Patrick Mahomes is injured for the first time in his career. While back-up quarterback Matt Moore played admirable against the Green Bay Packers (thank you, Andy Reid offense), Mahomes’ status for week nine against the Minnesota Vikings has everyone looking for information.

Therefore, here’s a capture of the most recent information heading into the weekend. On Thursday, Mahomes did practice. Notably, he was seen running in video footage during Thursday’s workout. The tweet of this video is below.

Furthermore, the key update floating around the internet with all sources involved is that Mahomes is yet to take first team reps in practice. Therefore, it’s looking like it could be another week before we see Mahomes on the field.

Notably, Mahomes’ next action would be a start at Tennessee against the Titans. Indeed, this increases the likelihood that the Chiefs decide to give Mahomes the extra breather. One more week could make all the difference between not only his effectiveness, but also avoiding a pass rush and further injury.

Remember, the Chiefs just want to get into the playoffs and secure their division so they get a home game. With the number two seed up for grabs, they’re simply asking Matt Moore to win them a game against a solid Minnesota team on Sunday.

Finally, it looks like Mahomes was in high spirits on Halloween. However, he didn’t shed any light on whether or not we will see him Sunday.

It’s going to be good to see this kid back on the field for Kansas City. Whenever it happens to be.
