The Cavaliers will be looking for a similar result after easily covering the 4.5-point spread against the Charlotte Hornets in their last game, 113-89. The total points for the game (202) finished under the projected point total of 212.5. Cleveland’s offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest strength over Charlotte. The Cavaliers had a rate of 35.9 (above their season average of 27.0), while the Hornets posted a mark of 20.7. Tristan Thompson played a pivotal role for Cleveland with 11 points, 21 rebounds and five assists.

In the Wizards’ last outing, they beat the Orlando Magic, 117-109, resulting in a push. The total points for the game (226) were over the O/U total of 221. The Wizards made 24 of their 33 free throws (72.7 percent) and had a turnover percentage of 9.7 (better than their season average of 12.8). John Wall was the game’s high scorer with 25 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field.

After the Cavaliers won three out of four games against the Wizards last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the most recent matchup, Cleveland won 119-115. Cleveland did an excellent job of getting and making free throws (22-28; 78.6 percent). Washington, meanwhile, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (28.6 vs. 14.7).

Cleveland comes into the contest with records of 2-11 straight up (SU) and 6-6 against the spread (ATS). Games including the Cavaliers have a tendency to go under the total (58.3 percent).

Meanwhile, Washington owns records of 4-9 SU and 3-9-1 ATS. Unlike Cleveland, Wizards games have typically gone over the total (69.2 percent).

Wall and Dwight Howard have been playing well over the last five games for Washington. Wall has averaged 23.2 points, 9.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Not to be outdone, Howard has put up 12.2 points and 9.6 rebounds a game during that span.

Washington does a solid job at getting to the charity stripe. They rank fourth in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.249), but Cleveland is among the best in the league at keeping opponents off the line (ranking fifth by allowing a FTA rate of 0.185). Additionally, the Cavaliers are among the NBA’s elite on the offensive backboards, ranking third in offensive rebounding percentage (27.6 percent). The Wizards, meanwhile, rank 29th at corralling defensive rebounds with a defensive rebounding percentage of 71.7 percent.
