College Football National Championship Odds: Buckeyes Heavy Favorites To Repeat

college football playoff odds
Ohio State is listed at 3-1 odds to repeat as national champions. But who can challenge the Buckeyes for college football supremacy?

The Ohio State Buckeyes are favored to repeat as national champs this season as they are listed at 3-1 in 2016 college football national championship odds at the sports books. The Buckeyes upset the Alabama Crimson Tide in last year’s semifinals 42-35 and then they upset the Oregon Ducks 42-20 to win last year’s title game and this year’s Ohio State team looks to be even better than it was a year ago. Ohio State is a solid favorite to win the title with odds of 3-1 with Alabama and TCU a distance second with odds of 8-1.

Buckeyes could be Double-Digit Favorites in Every Game

Ohio State is not only favored to make the College Football Playoffs and win the national title, they are likely to be double-digit favorites in every game during the 2015 regular season. The Buckeyes have an easy schedule as they don’t play any tough road games in 2015. Their toughest game will probably be against Michigan State and that comes at The Horseshoe. The Buckeyes are projected to be favored by at least 10 points in every game during the regular season. Last season the Buckeyes were underdogs in four games and they won each of the four.

Other Contenders

Alabama is the obvious choice to be the team that challenges Ohio State for the national title. They play in a tougher conference in the SEC and they should be battle tested if they can reach the championship game. TCU is also listed with odds of 8-1 and they may have their best team under head coach Gary Patterson this season. The Auburn Tigers, USC Trojans, Michigan State Spartans and Baylor Bears are the only other teams with odds of less than 20-1. The odds on Florida State have come down to 20-1 since they added former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson.

This year’s college football semifinal games in the College Football Playoffs will be played on New Year’s Eve at the Orange Bowl and at the Cotton Bowl with the National Championship Game taking place at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on January 11th.
