College Football Power Rankings For Week 12

College Football

It was another wild week of college football action where top teams saw their championship hopes take a shot. For a while, it looked like the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 teams would all lose on the same weekend as Notre Dame and Georgia were getting blown out and Alabama was trailing. However, the Crimson Tide got it together and came back to beat Mississippi State on their last drive of the game.

That means that Alabama continues to rule the nation, but Oklahoma, Miami and Clemson are waiting in the wings for the Crimson Tide to slip up. The Hurricanes have been one of the biggest risers over the last few weeks as they have taken care of business, beating Virginia Tech and then smoking Notre Dame in prime time. This is a relatively quiet week on the college football schedule as Rivalry Week will definitely heat things up next week.

The field is listed at +5000.

The Crimson Tide (10-0, 7-0 SEC) outscored Mississippi State 14-3 in the fourth quarter on the road in a 31-24 win as Jalen Hurts was 10-of-19 for 242 yards and a touchdown, while running 19 times for a 40 yards and a score. Calvin Ridley had five catches for 171 yards for the Crimson Tide, who had the ball for just 21:04, but they picked up the win to keep the top spot in the country. The Crimson Tide will host Mercer on Saturday.

The Sooners (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) jumped out to a 17-7 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 38-20 win over TCU at home, and Baker Mayfield had a big day, going 18-of-27 for 333 yards and three touchdowns, while Rodney Anderson had 23 carries for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns, along with five receptions for 139 yards and two scores.
