College Football Power Rankings For Week 14

Alabama Auburn

Rivalry Week turned the college football world upside down and while Alabama are still the favorites to win it all, the field definitely caught up after their loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Now, the Crimson Tide need help just to get into the playoff while the rest of the top teams compete in their conference-title games, and the playoff picture is now wide open.

The new college football playoff rankings are out. Clemson is now the No. 1 team in the nation. Much could change this week when they face No. 7 Miami in the ACC Championship Game. The Auburn Tigers are now in the top four, debuting at No. 2. The Oklahoma Sooners are now the No. 3 team in the country while the Wisconsin Badgers are No. 4. Alabama has fallen all the way to No. 5 but that can change. If Auburn loses to Georgia or if Wisconsin loses to Ohio State, there’s a good chance that the Crimson Tide get into the top four. That’s why they’re still favored in

The field is listed at +5000.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Last Week: 1

National Championship Odds: +250

The Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1 SEC) fell 26-14 at Auburn as Jalen Hurts was 13-of-23 for 177 yards and a touchdown, and he ran 17 times for 80 yards. However, the Crimson Tide allowed 408 yards and their offense had the ball for just 23:58, which isn’t a lot of time to put up points. Now, the Crimson Tide will watch Auburn and Georgia play for the SEC title, and they’ll have to hope that the voters will put them into the top four by the time the final votes are tallied up.

2. Oklahoma Sooners

Last Week: 2

National Championship Odds: +350

The Sooners (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) blasted West Virginia 59-31 as Baker Mayfield didn’t start the game for Oklahoma, but he was 14-of-17 for 281 yards and three touchdowns. Rodney Anderson had 13 carries for 118 yards and four touchdowns for the Sooners, who will go on to face TCU in the Big 12 title game and a win would definitely put them in the four-team playoff for the national title. Mayfield is also a leading contender to win the Heisman Trophy despite the rest of his troubles.

3. Clemson Tigers

Last Week: 3

National Championship Odds: +400

The Tigers (11-1, 7-1 ACC) rolled to a 34-10 win at South Carolina behind Kelly Bryant, who was 23-of-34 for 272 yards, a pair of touchdowns and a pick. The Clemson defense also held the Gamecocks to 207 yards of offense and now, the Tigers will play in the ACC title game against Miami. With a win, the Tigers will probably get a chance to go to the playoff, and defend their national title.

4. Auburn Tigers

Last Week: 6

National Championship Odds: +500

The Tigers (10-2, 7-1 SEC) dominated Alabama at home in the Iron Bowl, as Jarrett Stidham was 21-of-28 for 237 yards, and they ran 12 times for 51 yards and a score. Kerryon Johnson ran 30 times for 104 yards and a score, and he also threw a touchdown pass for the Tigers, who will now take on Georgia for the SEC title and the winner has a very good shot to go to the playoff. The Tigers rocked the Bulldogs 40-17 at home on November 11th.

5. Georgia Bulldogs

Last Week: 7

National Championship Odds: +650

The Bulldogs (11-1, 7-1 SEC) trounced Georgia Tech 38-7 on the road as Jake Fromm was 12-of-16 for 224 yards and a pair of scores, while three running backs ran for touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Georgia limited Georgia Tech to 226 yards as they will now go on to the SEC title game, where they could squaeeze their way into the national-title playoff with a win over the Tigers.

6. Ohio State Buckeyes

Last Week: 4

National Championship Odds: +800

The Buckeyes (10-2, 8-1 Big Ten) beat Michigan 21-20 as J.T. Barrett went 3-of-8 for 30 yards and a touchdown, then ran 15 times for 67 yards and a touchdown. Barrett was injured and replaced by Dwayne Haskins, who went 6-of-7 for 94 yards. The Buckeyes will now on to face Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game, and a win will keep their hope alive of getting back to the national-title playoff, although having two losses could be something that the voters look at.

7. Wisconsin Badgers

Last Week: 8

National Championship Odds: +1000

The Badgers (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) shut out Minnesota 31-0 on the road as Alex Hornibrook was 15-of-19 for 151 yards and three touchdowns, and Jonathan Taylor ran 20 times for 149 yards and a score for the Badgers, who help the Golden Gophers to 133 total yards in a dominant performance. A win over Ohio State in the Big Ten title game will definitely help the unbeaten Badgers’ cause of getting to the playoff, although some feel that they could be hurt by a weak schedule.

8. Miami Hurricanes

Last Week: 5

National Championship Odds: +2500

The Hurricanes (10-1, 7-1 ACC) blew their national-title hopes with a 24-14 loss at Pittsburgh, with Malik Rosier going 15-of-34 for 187 yards and two touchdowns, but the Hurricanes could only muster 232 yards and they had the ball for just 23:30. A win over Clemson in the ACC title game could get the Hurricanes to the national-title playoff, but this loss to the Panthers really hurts their chances.

9. TCU Horned Frogs

Last Week: 10

National Championship Odds: +10000

The Horned Frogs (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) routed Baylor 45-22 at home as Kenny Hill was 26-of-36 for 325 yards and three touchdowns, and Jarrison Stewart had six catches for 72 yards and a score. The Horned Frogs also forced three turnovers on the day as they will go on to face Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game; the Horned Frogs lost 38-20 at Oklahoma on November 11th. A win wouldn’t get the Horned Frogs to the national-title playoff, but they would almost definitely spoil Oklahoma’s chances.

10. USC Trojans

Last Week: 9

National Championship Odds: +10000

The Trojans (10-2, 8-1 Pac-12) were idle this week as they will go on to play Stanford in the Pac-12 title game. They won’t be in the running for a national-title playoff, but the Trojans can go to the Rose Bowl, which is a great consolation prize. Their last game was a 28-23 win at home over UCLA in their rivalry game, and you can probably get Sam Darnold’s Heisman odds at a good price going into what could be his final game with USC if he decides to go to the NFL.
