College Football: Top Televised Games For Week 12

College Football Televised

Week 12 of the college football season isn’t nearly as loaded as the previous week’s slate. However, there are a handful of important games that are definitely worth tuning in to see on Saturday. Fans of the college game probably can’t wait until next week’s schedule but for now you might have to settle for a relatively mediocre slate in which the best game might very well kick off just after noon eastern time. Here is a look at the top televised games in college football for Week 12.

#24 Michigan Wolverines @ #5 Wisconsin Badgers

Saturday, 12:00 PM ET – FOX

There isn’t another top-25 matchup in Week 12 so if you want to see the most meaningful game of the week you will need to schedule it around your lunch or breakfast depending on which coast you are on. Wisconsin will attempt to remain undefeated while Michigan tries to keep its slim hopes of winning the Big Ten East alive. It’s the only matchup of two ranked teams but nobody will expect a high scoring game considering the caliber of each of these defenses. The Wolverines have moved the ball much better since Brandon Peters took over at quarterback. However, this will be his toughest test yet against a tough Badgers defense. Michigan has the raw talent to put Wisconsin on upset alert this week so it will be interesting to see if they show up on the road despite some disappointing results against top Big Ten competition under head coach Jim Harbaugh to date.

#12 TCU Horned Frogs @ Texas Tech Red Raiders

Saturday, 12:00 PM ET – FS1

It wasn’t that long ago that Texas Tech was being teased as a potential dark horse contender in the Big 12. The Red Raiders knocked off Houston to improve to 3-0 and everybody was talking about an improved defense that had the potential to elevate the program to become a contender. However, the Texas Tech defense has struggled against top competition, allowing an average of 41.8 points per game against Big 12 opponents other than Baylor and Kansas this season. TCU has a lot more to play for this week so it will be interesting to see if they take care of business on the road. The Horned Frogs defense has been excellent for the most part other than against Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma. TCU’s defense will need to step up again this weekend in order to pick up another big victory on the road.

Navy Midshipmen @ #8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Saturday, 3:30 PM ET – NBC

Once the noon games are complete, there won’t be much to choose from in terms of meaningful games. One interesting matchup is the rivalry between Notre Dame and Navy. Can the Fighting Irish bounce back following an embarrassing loss to Miami? Notre Dame will need to rebound in a hurry but they have to like this week’s matchup a lot better than a year ago when the Midshipmen upset them. The Fighting Irish are capable of scoring points in bunches and Navy will have a difficult time stopping them on the road. This should be a high scoring game and the rivalry between these two programs should help make it that much more interesting of a college football matchup.

UCLA Bruins @ #11 USC Trojans

Saturday, 8:00 PM ET – ABC

Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen will have the spotlight to themselves when the Bruins and Trojans go head-to-head on ABC Saturday night. With the NFL season winding down, there will be plenty of NFL fans tuning in to see what these two quarterbacks do. However, the most exciting aspect of this game might be USC’s rushing attack with running back Ronald Jones II and the rest of this group looking to go to work against a UCLA team that has allowed more than 300 rushing yards per game this season. The Trojans should be able to win this game on the strength of Jones and their rushing attack with Rosen vs. Darnold becoming a secondary storyline in this prime time Pac-12 showdown.
