College Football Week 12 Opening Odds Report

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

We didn’t see a whole lot of upsets in the college football betting world this week. Oklahoma got quite the scare from Oklahoma State in Bedlam, but the highest ranked team to lose was No. 12 Kentucky. That should lead to some pretty static rankings in the College Football Playoff standings, and this week might not change much either. Many of the best teams in the country will be playing relative lightweights before the regular season closes out in Rivalry Week, but there are some interesting tilts nonetheless. Here are the College Football Week 12 Opening Odds.

Cincinnati Bearcats +7.5

UCF Knights -7.5

For the first time ever, College Gameday will be headed to Orlando for a UCF game. The Knights enjoy the longest winning streak in the country, and they are looking to make it back to a New Year’s Six Bowl this year after beating Auburn in the Peach Bowl last year to claim a piece of the national championship. Knights’ fans have had a … let’s call it an interesting relationship with ESPN, and in particular Gameday’s Kirk Herbstreit, so this atmosphere is sure to be electric.

Cincinnati is well ahead of schedule with head coach Luke Fickell. The Bearcats have a chance to claim the AAC East title ahead of the Knights with an upset win here, and they are out to do just that. This is best defense in the AAC by a wide margin, and they will look to shut down McKenzie Milton and a UCF offense that has been great at putting up points.

Syracuse Orange +9.5

Notre Dame Fighting Irish -9.5

This game will take place in Yankee Stadium rather than at the campus of either one of these two schools. No one expected this out of Syracuse. The Orange are 8-2, and they have really taken off in Dino Babers’ third year. Although they started off hot in 2016 and 2017, this was the first year they haven’t had a swoon over the last half of the season, and now they will be going to a nice bowl game.

The Orange also have a chance to ruin Notre Dame’s season. The Fighting Irish are 10-0, and they will make it to the College Football Playoff with wins in their last two regular season games. However, if Notre Dame stumbles somewhere along the way, they could potentially miss out on a shot at playing for the national championship. Keep an eye on the status of quarterback Ian Book ahead of this one after he missed the Florida State game due to an injury.

West Virginia Mountaineers -5

Oklahoma State Cowboys +5

Give Mike Gundy credit, he’s got guts. Oklahoma State went for the dagger against Oklahoma in Bedlam on Saturday, going for two with a minute left to try to take the lead on the Sooners. However, the gamble didn’t pay off and their upset bid fell short, resulting in a 48-47 loss.

The Cowboys are out to pull off the upset this time around in Stillwater. West Virginia has had some struggles on the road this year, and the Mountaineers have just narrowly escaped being upset a couple times already this year. If they can do it one more time, they will host Oklahoma for the Big 12 regular season title next week.
