College Football Week 4 Opening Lines Report

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Saban’s train continues to chug along with no signs of slowing down, much less stopping, in the near future. The Alabama Crimson Tide have waxed all three of their opponents so far this season. They have outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 170-28 and have covered with ease on the NCAAF betting line in each of their first three games. This week, they will take on the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies have already played one top team to the wire, and they are hoping to finish the job this time. Let’s take a look at the Week 4 Opening Lines

Texas A&M Aggies +24

Alabama Crimson Tide -24

It’s pretty incredible to see a ranked team favored by 24 points over another ranked team, but sportsbooks are desperate to get money on the other side of an Alabama game. The Crimson Tide have finally found a quarterback, so money has poured in on them all season long. Tua Tagovailoa continues to show why Saban made the decision to switch to him at halftime of the National Championship Game, and he is one of the early frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy.

Texas A&M boasts the toughest defense Alabama has faced thus far though. Defensive coordinator Mike Elko has brought an aggressive approach to College Station, and it has paid off in the early going. The Aggies defense wase able to successfully limit Clemson’s offense two weeks ago, and they will look to do the same here.

Florida Atlantic Owls +13.5

UCF Knights -13.5

UCF boasts the longest winning streak in the nation. The Knights had their game against North Carolina rained out last week, but most expected them to pummel a bad Tar Heels team. This is a game that has been circled as a potential upset for quite some time though.

Lane Kiffin is an offensive genius, there’s no doubt about that. Devin Singletary has yet to run for 100 yards yet this season, but the offense has continued to produce points. Florida Atlantic’s offense hasn’t looked as deadly as it did last season yet, but this is the time of the year where the Owls turned it on in 2017.

Stanford Cardinal +1.5

Oregon Ducks -1.5

This is the game that College Gameday will be at this week, and for good reason. The Oregon Ducks have started the season strong with Mario Cristobal at the helm, and they are looking to contend for the PAC 12 North title. The offense is averaging more than 50 points per game, and Justin Herbert has already tossed 12 touchdown passes.

Stanford has proved to be a major thorn in their side in the past though. The Cardinal once again look to have a very good defense, and they could shut down this fast-paced offense. The big concern with Stanford is the status of star running back Bryce Love. Love sat out the win over UC Davis for undisclosed reasons this weekend, and no word has been given on whether or not he will play yet.
